HistoryThe first clarinet was invented by Johann Christoph (J.C.) Denner, with the help of this son Jacob, of Nuremberg, Germany. J.C. Denner and his son invented the Clarinet between the years of 1655 and 1707. J.C. Denner was well-known and well-respected in Germany for all of the high quality wood wind instruments he made. J.C. Denner took the 'Chalumeau' and modified it by coveting the keys into register keys to produce the first clarinet. This development is usually attributed to Johann Christoph Denner but some people say that the real inventor is his son Jacob, of Nuremberg, Germany.
